Inflammation of the appendages (adnexitis, oophoritis)

Inflammation of the appendages, also known as adnexitis or oophoritis, is the result of infection that attacks the ovaries appendages.
Why did this happen?

Factor in provoking inflammation of the appendages often ovarian hypothermia, such as prolonged sitting or lying on the cold surface. In addition, wet feet in the cold season can also lead to adnexitises.

Can cause inflammation as a “normal” pathogens and sexually transmitted diseases. Most often it is chlamydia and gonorrhea. When these bacteria come from contamination in the female genital tract, they are not suitable acidic vagina and they are out to get into the pipe, where the environment is more suitable. In addition, there is a columnar epithelium, which can live for chlamydia. These bacteria are armed with an arsenal of sufficient resources to resist the immune system.
Symptoms of inflammation of the appendages:

sharp or dull aching pain in the abdomen, worse before or during menstruation;
abdominal pain during intercourse, decreased sexual desire;
menstrual disorders;
fever, weakness.

Dangerous complication is inflammation of the appendages of ovarian infertility. It arises from the fact that in the process of inflammation and epithelial cells affects the fallopian tubes. As a result of their normal function is disturbed, and the outcome may be scarring of the tubes, which is completely off her work.

During long-term inflammation of the ovarian capsule is proliferation of connective tissue. Ovarian capsule thickens and becomes more dense. And it may happen that it becomes too strong and will not burst at the time of ovulation, the follicle. Matured egg will not be able to leave the follicle. In this case, the pregnancy would also be impossible.

In addition to the tube and ovary, affected adjoining the peritoneum – the inner membrane of the abdominal cavity. To limit the spread of infection in the peritoneum, the connective tissue grows and the formation of adhesions, which are glued together pieces of the peritoneum. Adhesions violate the mobility of the intestine, which can lead to pain, constipation, diarrhea. It also reduces the mobility of the fallopian tubes, which is necessary for a complete transfer of the egg to the uterus.

Thus, transferred inflammation of the ovaries can cause infertility. This form is difficult to treat infertility. Also in violation of mobility or fallopian tubes can develop an ectopic pregnancy.

Particularly strongly disrupted the fallopian tubes and ovaries, if the process is prolonged, chronic course. And to it almost always results in acute inflammation, if left untreated. Therefore, when the signs of inflammation of the appendages have to appeal to a gynecologist and not expect that the disease will pass on their own.
Diagnosis and treatment

Inflammation of the adnexa should be distinguished from a number of diseases that give similar symptoms. Uses questioning and physical examination, the patient, as well as additional methods: pelvic ultrasound, blood tests and urine tests. In some cases, shows a diagnostic laparoscopy.

Only after an accurate diagnosis is a treatment that is anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, reducing (absorbable adhesions) therapy. Treatment should be for a long time, seeming prosperity should not be cause for early termination of treatment.
Prevention of inflammation of the appendages:

Avoid hypothermia, especially in the genital area;
Guard against infections, sexually transmitted diseases;
Remember that medical abortion significantly increases the risk of ascending infection.
